‘DAME started like a mustard seed’ I have a lot of respect for DAME. When they started 16 years ago, it was an intangible idea and not many people, including those in the media, took them with a pinch of salt. The applicant sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?”

'Get it right'
There was something of the deja-vu in the cant that accompanied the dissolution of the boards of Federal Government agencies. "…The President of the Federal Republic …," announced the circular from the office of the secretary to the Federal Government, "has approved the dissolution, in the public interest (italics ours), of the boards of all federal parastatals, agencies, companies and institutions."
The records of past boards, their public perception as incubators of sleaze in the public space and the awesome incompetence of some of these agencies in service delivery mock the very concept of public interest. It has been more of private interests at public expense
