BITTER-SWEET
My life with Obasanjo

The Author and the Book
Oluremi Obasanjo was born in Abeokuta where she received her primary and secondary school education. She later studied Institutional Management in England before embarking on a rewarding career in the hospitality industry.

Bitter-Sweet: My life with Obasanjo, is the engaging story of a green-eyed Abeokuta girl, who married a soldier and witnessed the extreme realities of tender love and brutal nonchalance, of dedication and indifference. It is the story of a wife and mother, a participant-observer who “witnessed many things about the nature of power—its allure, use and misuse.”

Mother of six, Oluremi’s account covers half a century of her relationship with General Olusegun Obasanjo, who ruled Nigeria from 1976 to 1979 and from 1999 to 2007. in this work, Mrs. Obasanjo takes the reader across various places: Abeokuta, Ibadan, London, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Lagos, Addis Ababa, Cairo, Ota, Abuja, Rome, and Milan, providing penetrating insights into principal actors in Nigerian life such as: Chukwuma Nzeogwu, Benjamin Adekunle, Obafemi Awolowo, Gani Fawehinmi, Murtala Muhammed, M. D. Yusufu, Michael Ibru, Prof. J. F. Ade-Ajayi, Ukpabi Asika, Hassan Katsina, Yakubu Gowon, Samuel Ogbemudia, Bisi Onabanjo, Moshood Abiola, Simbiat Abiola etc.

Gripping and racy, it is a story you may not put down until you get to the last page. It is a worthy addition to the growing literature of adventures in power.
